Carpenter I (Trainee)Constructs, repairs, and maintains St. Labre residential houses and buildings conforming to required codes and maintains equipment and tools by performing the following duties.Completes given work orders and schedules accordingly. Insures work orders are completed in a timely manner, inspected and signed-off to lead carpenter and/or supervisor.Requests supplies and materials needed for work orders and special projects.Refinishes cabinets and counters.Lays carpet and vinyl.Assembles cut and shaped materials and fastens them together with nails, dowel pins, or glue.Erects framework for structures and lays subflooring.Fits and installs prefabricated window frames, doors, door frames, weather stripping, interior and exterior trim, and finish hardware, such as locks, letterdrops, and kick plates.Erects scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level.Assists with minor repairs on electric, and plumbing systems.Assists other carpenters/supervisor in planning larger projects.This job has no supervisory responsibilities.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
