  • Develop standard work and ensure employees are properly trained and consistently follow established processes.
  • Address performance and personnel issues, including formal coaching and disciplinary action when necessary, in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Participate actively in problem solving and respond to operational issues as they arise on the manufacturing floor.
  • Assist with production schedules, workflow plans, staffing levels, and re-promise dates to support on-time delivery.
  • Coordinate with first-shift leadership and other departments to ensure an effective handoff and continuity of production.
  • Lead lean manufacturing practices including 5S, Daily Management, Visual Management, and variation-reduction techniques.
  • Use ERP systems, spreadsheets, and reports to monitor operations, labor, staffing, and production activity.
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with the union and follow the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Support payroll-related activities, time-off requests, training records, customer complaint feedback, and required manufacturing documentation.

Required Experience

  • Prior experience leading teams or supervising employees in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong people-management skills with the ability to coach, hold employees accountable, and address issues directly.
  • Manufacturing aptitude and the ability to learn a highly customized engineered product environment.
  • Strong computer skills, including comfort with ERP systems, spreadsheets, reporting, and Microsoft Office/Office 365 applications.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce.
  • Strong sense of urgency with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in engineering, or equivalent applicable experience.
  • Ability to meet U.S. export control requirements (ITAR/EAR) for access to technical data.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supervising assembly technicians or similar skilled manufacturing employees.
  • Experience working in a union manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to lean manufacturing, 5S, visual management, continuous improvement, and production performance metrics.
