Job Summary

As a Summer Intern at Black & Veatch, you will play a meaningful role in addressing some of the world’s most critical infrastructure challenges. Join our team as a Mechanical Engineer within our Mission Critical team, where you'll support federal projects designed by Black & Veatch. 

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, evaluate, and design specifications and contract drawings
• Involves the design of HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, standby power, flood control systems, and other specialties. 
• Perform variety of tasks to support engineering analyses, report production, and designs
• Prepare basic calculations 
• Assist in basic equipment selection
• Coordinate with other disciplines 
• Schedule project deliverables
• Collect, organize, and evaluate data
• Analyze systems utilizing computer modeling

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Skills:

• Architectural Engineering and Fire Protection degrees, HVAC and Plumbing courses preferred. 
• Communications skills, both written and oral
• Mathematical skills
• Problem solving skills
• Computer skills 

Minimum Qualifications

No experience required. Current enrollment in ABET accredited university in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering program. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

This intern position is expected to be in the office on a full-time basis.
