Duties and Responsibilities

• Operates crane under general supervision traveling or stationary.
• Ensures safe transfer of materials in the warehouse.
• Completes job tickets and all necessary paperwork.
• Moves and positions loads using hoisting attachments such as hooks and slings.
• Observes load hookup and determines safety of the load.
• Manipulates or depresses crane controls to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement according to written, verbal, or signal instructions.
• Starts and stop crane engine.
• Cleans and maintain crane and hoisting mechanisms.
• Inspects crane for defective parts and notifies supervisor of defects or malfunctions.
• Regular and predictable attendance is required to perform the duties of a crane operator.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Basic reading and writing comprehension in English (to read instructions, tickets, safety and policies manuals)
• Read, understand and comprehend basic blueprints and drawings
• Proficient measuring skills and the ability to read measuring tapes, micrometers and calipers
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Overhead crane/forklift experience
