Job DescriptionECS is seeking a UX / UI Web Designerto design the UI architecture, interface, and interaction flow of new web and on‐device software applications to include the wireframes, mock-ups and process flows. This position works for the US Postal Services' Inspector General's Office (OIG) at our Arlington, VA office.Please Note: This position is contingent upon additional funding and requires a Public Trust background investigation. This entails an in-depth background check & either US Citizenship or Permanent Resident (Green Card) status.Responsibilities include:Will serve as a designer in the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General (OIG) External Services Directorate, responsible for user experience and interface designQuickly yet thoroughly create process flows, wireframes, and visual design mockups as needed to effectively conceptualize and communicate detailed interaction behaviorsDevelop and maintain detailed user-interface specificationsEngage with stakeholders to do evaluation of needs, goals, mission, values, and overall objectives of siteSolicit and incorporate feedback from CIGIE/USPS OIG/IG Community subject matter and technical experts throughout the engagement.Leverage the U.S. design standards to the greatest extent possibleLimit custom coding to the greatest extent possible to promote efficient knowledge-transfer and cost-effective in-house maintenanceThroughout development, when significant design choices are required, develop multiple concepts for feedback from CIGIE/USPS OIG/IG Community POCsCreate user‐centered designs for software projects by considering customer feedbackDesign the UI architecture, interface, and interaction flow of new web and on‐device software applicationsCreate and evaluate interaction models, user task flows, screen designs, and UI details that promote ease of use andoptimize the user experienceBreakdown complex requirements and concepts into well‐thought visual designs and workflowsParticipates in testing, validating own and others’ functionalityModernize and improve existing graphics, fonts, and other design elements, with the goal of achieving a modern looking websiteJob RequirementsAt least 5 years of experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, informationarchitect, or similar roleConceptual understanding of User Interface Design and the Design ProcessIntermediate to advanced user of Adobe Creative Suite (or other designer tools)Intermediate level of HTML, CSS and BootstrapBasic JavaScript skillsUnderstanding of Less and SassUnderstanding of responsive design and touch interface interaction techniques and be in sync with recent design standards and trendsUnderstanding of the limitations of web and mobile, with approaches/ideas to flex those boundaries. A solid portfolio of work demonstrating experience creating great user‐centered design solutions across multiple interfaces and screen sizesAbility to work collaboratively with developers, project managers, and cross‐functional teams to ensure that designs are successfully created and implemented to achieve the user goalsExperience creating UI specs & wireframes. Flexibility and willingness to move from idea, to whiteboard, to execution quickly and provide choices to stakeholdersExperience in proposing and executing new interactive graphics based on existing data, with the goal of making the data already collect more accessible and interactiveAbility to improve the “user paths” on the site, ensuring that users’ destinations can be reached in a minimum of clicksNote: This position requires working onsite 4 days a week at out USPS customer site in Arlington, VA.Salary Range: $100,000 - $120,000 annuallyGeneral Description of BenefitsJob DetailsJob Type: Full-timeCategory: Software Development, Engineering & ApplicationsSalaried: Salaried
